Privacy Policy — Ezwati

Effective 20 October 2026

Ezwati (عزوتي) helps a family keep its tree, stories and photos together, privately. This policy explains what the app stores, where, who can see it, and how to delete it.

In short

What the app stores

Where it is kept

A tree is saved on your device, protected by iOS file encryption while your phone is locked. It is also kept, with its photos and recordings, in the tree owner's iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit, so the family can share it and keep it when someone changes phones. Apple holds this data under the Apple Privacy Policy; the developer has no access to it.

If the phone is not signed in to iCloud, the tree stays on that device alone, protected only by the backups you export.

Who can see it

A family tree is private. Only the people its owner invites can open it, each with their own Apple Account. The owner chooses the person in the tree and their role (a viewer needs no person); the app creates an invitation code for that person alone, and the owner sends it, with the tree code, however they like. Email addresses and phone numbers are hidden from other members by default and are shown only with the owner's approval; the owner can hide the exact dates of living relatives, and any person's information can be marked private. What members add or change, and the memories they share, appear to the rest of the family only after the owner approves them. The owner also chooses how the tree is shown to all members, such as hiding women or wives across every screen of the app.

Until it is used, an invitation waits sealed with encryption in this app's public area of iCloud, and cannot be read without both codes. It is removed when it is used, withdrawn by the owner, or expires (after seven days unless the owner chooses otherwise).

Permissions the app asks for

Keeping and deleting your information

Children

The app asks no one for personal information in order to use it. Families may record information about their children in a tree; please do so with care.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date.
